Aloha, I'm moving from Maui to Portland June 3rd. I'm a dancer- live to dance. It's my passion. I study all forms of it and regularly practice the 5Rhythms. I'm excited to immerse myself into the ecstatic dance community in Portland- a gypsy dipping her little toes into a beautiful new space. And I need a little help from the community. I do not know a soul in Portland- all my compadres moved on, so I need a place to stay just for a tiny bit (two weeks max) to get my feet on the ground and find my own place. I'm 24, female, educated, respectable and tons of fun. Ideally, I'm looking for someone who would be really stoked on having me as a guest and perhaps hanging out with me- experiencing dance opportunities with me, showing me the best local spots- whatever. If this sounds like something your into, please hit me back. Love and light-Danielle-daniellerubio873@hotmail.com

Re: Ecstatic dancer moving to Portland-tips?
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 5:04 PMHi Danielle,
This tribe doesn't see a whole lot of action, but I'll post this to the Sacred Circle listserv, which sees a LOT of action. My housemate Delinda and I have limited space for a two-week guest but if no one comes through off Sacred Circle, let me know and we'll get you taken care of.
I've responded to you personally so if you didn't get that email try getting me through Tribe...

Re: Ecstatic dancer moving to Portland-tips?
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 2:23 PMI have to retract my comment abotu Meshi havign a good group.
I encountered soem very harshh words and energy blockign 2 days ago from him.
I sadly asked to eb removed from his list.. he is in conjunction with Jen adn possibly winky. They used to have a great group.
Groups rise or fall to the level of the leader. leaders often grow and becoem aware of many nuances and very fragiel and important responsibility of managing a group in which soul growth may ha[ppen from dance.
A skilled leader will know to introduce himself to new participants. A skilled leader will honor emotions and understand that emotions coem from needfs or hurts. A skilled leader will examine his or her own self and their actions which may have contributed to frustration or hurts. A skilled leader can communicate honestly and learn to end a problem with grace with acceptance and forgiveness for all.
This did not happen with him and his assistant.
There is always time for growth.
I simply can not endorse their group until more skill is developed. -

Re: Ecstatic dancer moving to Portland-tips?
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 11:01 AMExperiences change based on our own personal space. Maybe Meshi was having a bad day. Maybe your energy was in an uncomfortable space. It's all OK. I've danced with Meshi, Jen, Winky, Paula, Vinn, Sacred Circle and more over the last 12 years. I find each of those people beautiful and they each bring a certain spirit to dance and to my life. I don't expect any of them to hold my hand...it's up to me to make my own path and I appreciate that they hold space for my experience. I love them. -

Re: Ecstatic dancer moving to Portland-tips?
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 1:50 AMI didnt expect any hand holding.
I do expect however that a grown up group leader identify him/herself when askign for more money at a remote workshop area.. oh, yes and also to welcoem the person first.
This assistant didnt introduce herself or anything ljust asked me for more money.. and then was outraged that I yelled..... and my yelling was because of a major mistake Breitenbush had made alredy asking me for more money.. that happened 4 years ago,
just recently Meshi .. agreed that I coudl go to another Breitenbush workshop the oen upcomign June 10-12 at Breitenbush and then 3 weeks later when I called to firm up.. he recanted and said because of the yelloing.... he chose to nto have me come ..
no bad day h ere
deep unresolved grudge without remembering or applying facts.
Yeah, I danced with Vin Marti, Winkie and Paula.. Yes, I enjoyed it a lot. I love dance and dance with our ecstatic dance group here in Seattle 2 times a week.
due to this grudge adn the change in yes you can go no you cant go.. I felell that meshi is not a grown up but rather an inauthentic unskilled group leader.
